OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo Activated on Telescope AI - Supercharging Investor Capabilities

By Luc Pettett on

Following OpenAI’s launch of major new capabilities including GPT-4 Turbo, Telescope AI is activating upgrades for our API users.

Today OpenAI announced the release of GPT-4 Turbo, an enhanced version of GPT-4 with a 128,000 token context window - over 3x larger than previous models. This enables more accurate, nuanced conversations. GPT-4 Turbo also has knowledge of events up to April 2023, compared to GPT-4 which only covered up to 2021.

In addition, OpenAI launched new multimodal features like vision capabilities in GPT-4 Turbo, text-to-image generation via DALL-E 3, and text-to-speech. The Assistants API makes it easier for developers to build customized AI apps.

Given Telescope AI aggregates multiple models including GPT-4, we can immediately activate these new features. Our users will benefit from GPT-4 Turbo’s expanded knowledge and context window.

”It’s important for us to stay abreast of the latest LLM upgrades and have our platform ready to adopt higher context, larger throughput and more up-to-date knowledge of financial markets,” Luc Pettett, Founder of Telescope.

Telescope Launches New Ripple Features

Alongside the GPT-4 Turbo capabilities, today we’re also announcing powerful new capabilities in the Telescope AI platform. Leveraging recent advances in large language models, we’re giving investors sophisticated tools to turn ideas into actionable investment strategies.

With our latest product update, Telescope users can now:

  • Construct adverse instruments baskets. Prompt potential events or trends and get AI-generated stock selections likely to be negatively affected. Alongside our existing capability identifying stocks poised to benefit, this provides a comprehensive view of the investment landscape.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the AI stock selection by revealing the reasoning. This “opens the black box” so users get more rationale behind AI recommendations.
  • Experience upgraded accuracy and speed thanks to integration with Anthropic’s new Claude 2 model.

Adverse Stock Selection and Reasoning

We’re particularly excited about the new adverse instruments feature alongside “reasoning”.

Identifying which stocks are vulnerable to potential events is just as important as finding opportunities. Now Telescope provides both sides of the coin, allowing for more informed investment decisions.

Example 1: Ozempic Appetite Suppressant

The growing popularity of the appetite suppressant Ozempic presents an interesting case study for investors. As the Fortune article explains, Ozempic’s ability to reduce calorie intake by 30% is leading to declining sales for high-calorie and unhealthy foods. However, to build true conviction around an investment theme, investors must consider potential adverse effects too.

Our new “Adverse Instruments” feature in Telescope AI’s Ripple allows just that. It identified sugar and junk food providers like Dominos and McDonalds as stocks likely to be negatively affected by Ozempic adoption. But it also surfaced nuances - selecting Pepsi over Coca-Cola as a positively affected stock, due to Pepsi’s pivot toward healthier offerings.

Considering both the upside and downside stock implications of a theme leads to more balanced conviction. Ripple now empowers investors to instantly map out the full investment landscape of any prompt, allowing for informed decisions.

Prompt: "Ozempic appetite suppressant reduces calorie intake by 30% and it's becoming very popular" Prompt: “Ozempic appetite suppressant reduces calorie intake by 30% and it’s becoming very popular”

Example 2: An Extra Long El Niño

Climate is a challenging complex task for AI. Telescope Ripple reveals some interesting beneficiaries. The AI reveals higher electricity demand due to increased temperatures and the occurrence of extreme weather events can also influence policy-making, potentially leading to stricter regulations on fossil fuels and more incentives for renewable energy. Conversely, AI has provided a good assessment of the most likely to suffer: fossil fuel companies.

Prompt: "An extra-long El Niño" Prompt: “An extra-long El Niño”

Stay tuned for more enhancements as we continue our mission to inspire the future of investing with AI. We greatly appreciate the feedback from our early API partners. Please keep the suggestions coming as we iterate.
