Customers can see why a coin moved, and what is moving their portfolio, without leaving the app.

AI insights are now live for every customer on the Independent Reserve and bitcoin.com.au mobile apps in Australia. Developed with Australian AI company Telescope, the feature turns market data and news into short, plain-English summaries for about 40 cryptocurrencies.

Open any coin and a useful summary sits under the price chart, explaining the recent price action, the news behind it and what it adds up to. Related news stories are grouped together, so customers get the full picture without reading the same story several times.

Open the wallet and the Portfolio insights card does the same for a customer’s holdings as a whole, in a headline and a sentence or two. It leads with the move that mattered most to that portfolio and ties each point to a specific price, date or news event, so customers see what moved their own holdings, not just the market.

Independent Reserve customers can view insights in AUD, USD, NZD or SGD, and bitcoin.com.au customers in AUD. Figures quoted in overseas news, such as flows into US Bitcoin ETFs, are converted into the customer’s currency.

“When a coin moves, the first thing our customers want to know is why,” said Shane Herft, Head of Product at Independent Reserve.

“Now the answer is right there when they visit an instrument’s details, avoiding the need to visit external news and social sites to get the complete picture, delivering us more logins and time on site.”

AI is becoming a mainstream research tool for Australian investors. In Chartered Accountants ANZ’s 2026 Retail Investor Confidence Survey, 61% of retail investors said they use AI to help inform investment decisions, up from 48% a year earlier. Half of those who haven’t adopted it said they don’t trust the information it produces.

How it stays accurate

Telescope’s Insights engine runs multiple research agents in parallel across multiple AI models to produce accurate, useful insights.

“Crypto trades around the clock, and prices often move on news that is hard to find and harder to interpret,” said Luc Pettett, Founder and CEO of Telescope.

“Independent Reserve’s brief was clear: get the facts right, say why prices moved, and give a simple, useful picture of what is happening with each coin. And if the news doesn’t explain a move, our insights don’t guess.”

The two companies are already working on further AI features for the apps.
